This exhibit examines how the legend of Ponce de Leon’s quest for restorative waters shaped the Sunshine State’s image as a land of fantasy, rejuvenation, and magical spring-fed waters. Rich in images, Finding the Fountain of Youth shows how the myths surrounding the discovery of “La Florida” influenced perceptions of the state that still echo today.

Discovery Days: Seedy Surprises

Seeds have many surprises in store! Kids will explore the basic anatomy of a seed and then go on a hunt to find seeds ‘in action’ around the Gardens. They will also have an opportunity to make a seed collage, and then plant some seeds to create their own nursery to take home.

Dog Day of Summer

Leashed and friendly dogs are invited for this special day with activities including dog health & safety information and adoptions. Dog admission: $5 each, with 50% of the proceeds benefiting the Humane Society of Polk County. Regular human rates apply.
